Basic Crime Scene Investigation for Officers, Detectives & CSI's

The crime scene examination is the first critical step in any investigations and we normally only have one change to get it right. It is often difficult for detectives to recover if the scene examination was not properly documented or the evidence was not recognized and collected, or was collected improperly and could not be evaluated by the crime lab. When done correctly, the crime scene examination can firmly establish what happened and provide evidence or investigative leads to identify the perpetrator.

In our modern times, the crime scene examination is more than just taking photos. Because recognizing and properly collecting physical and forensic evidence is a critical step to solving and later prosecuting offenders. It is also expected by the jury.
